Automatic vs Manual Driving Lessons

This is a key decision point
Automatic Driving Lessons
Manual Driving Lessons

Best for:

  • Nervous or first-time drivers

  • Learners who want quicker confidence

  • City driving and traffic

  • Drivers with coordination difficulties

Benefits:

  • Easier to learn

  • No clutch or gear changes

  • Allows more focus on road awareness and safety

Licence Note (NSW)

  • Passing the test in an automatic gives you an A condition

  • You can only drive automatic vehicles unless you later pass a manual test

Best for:

  • Drivers wanting full licence flexibility

  • Rural or regional drivers

  • Drivers who may use work vehicles

  • Those wanting stronger car control skills

Benefits

  • Can drive both manual and automatic cars

  • Better understanding of vehicle mechanics

  • More control on hills and varied terrain

Licence Note (NSW)

  • Passing in a manual allows you to drive any car type

Our Commitment

  1. Dual controls for instructor intervention

  2. Calm, respectful learning environment

  3. Lessons tailored to each student

  4. Focus on lifelong safe driving, not shortcuts
